Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join a growing manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality machined components using conventional machine tools, supporting the manufacture of bespoke engineering equipment.
This is a hands-on role requiring experience operating manual centre lathes and other conventional machinery while working accurately from technical engineering drawings.
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for:
Set up and operate manual centre lathes to manufacture precision components.
Operate manual milling machines and workshop press equipment where required.
Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
Carry out routine maintenance and daily checks on workshop machinery.
Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Work closely with fabrication, assembly and engineering teams to meet production deadlines.
Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company quality standards.
The ideal candidate will be:
Proven experience as a Manual Machinist.
Strong experience operating manual centre lathes.
Experience using manual milling machines and/or press machinery.
Ability to confidently read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
Experience working to close tolerances.
Competent using precision measuring equipment.
Good understanding of machining principles, materials and tooling.
