Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable

SMG Enterprises Ltd. is seeking an experienced, organized, and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Accountant to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience managing customer accounts, vendor payments, invoicing, and collections in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Prepare, review, and issue customer invoices accurately and on time.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up with customers for payments.
• Manage overdue accounts and collections professionally.
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate AR aging reports.
• Process customer payments and maintain payment records.
• Communicate with customers regarding outstanding balances.

Accounts Payable (AP)

• Process and verify supplier invoices and purchase orders.
• Schedule and prepare vendor payments.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor payment deadlines and maintain positive vendor relationships.
• Track expenses and ensure proper accounting documentation.

General Accounting & Administration

• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Assist with GST/PST reporting and remittances.
• Maintain accurate financial records and accounting files.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare financial reports for management.
• Work closely with operations and management to ensure accurate job costing and billing.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
• Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong experience with customer collections and account reconciliations.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Experience in construction, mechanical services, manufacturing, or industrial service companies is an asset.
