Agriculture Equipment Operator
Job Description
Operate agricultural equipment and machinery throughout the farming season. From December through the winter months, load, haul, transfer, and unload grain between farm yards, grain bins, storage locations, and agricultural facilities; inspect, clean, service, maintain, and perform routine repairs on agricultural equipment and machinery in preparation for the upcoming farming season. During spring and summer, operate tractors, loaders, skid steers, trucks, tillage equipment, planting equipment, sprayers, mowers, and other agricultural machinery used in planting, cultivating, maintaining, and producing crops. During harvest, operate combines, tractors, grain carts, trucks, augers, conveyors, loaders, and other equipment used to harvest, transport, handle, and store crops. Perform general farm duties, equipment cleaning and maintenance, grain handling, and other agricultural equipment operating duties as needed in connection with the employer’s agricultural operations. Follow all equipment operating and safety procedures.
Requirements: 3 months of experience. A valid Class D drivers license is required for job duties involving the operation of farm vehicles and equipment on public roadways. Workers who do not possess the required license at the time of hire must be legally eligible to obtain one and obtain the required license within 30 days of hire. Any licensing requirement will be applied equally to all workers performing the same duties.
Smoking is prohibited while operating or working in or around employer vehicles, agricultural equipment, grain handling or storage areas, and other areas designated as non-smoking by the employer. Possession or consumption of alcohol while working, operating equipment or vehicles, or otherwise on duty is prohibited. Workers must report to work fit for duty and able to safely perform assigned duties.
Workers must comply with all applicable safety requirements and employer policies while operating vehicles, machinery, and agricultural equipment.
