Apprentice Maintenance Fitter

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Maintenance Fitter to join our Maintenance team.

As an apprentice, you will receive structured on-the-job training alongside experienced maintenance fitters and attend the required off-the-job training phases. Throughout the four-year programme, you will develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and experience needed to become a fully qualified Maintenance Fitter.

What You’ll Learn

Working under the guidance of experienced maintenance fitters, you will

• Assist in the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of production machinery and plant equipment.
• Learn to dismantle, repair, manufacture and install mechanical components.
• Under supervision, gain experience working with steam, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Assist in maintaining conveyors, pumps, valves, mixers, elevators, packaging equipment and other production machinery.
• Develop fabrication skills using equipment such as press brakes, guillotines, grinders and welding equipment.
• Learn to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability.
• Monitor equipment performance using modern maintenance techniques and a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Work safely at all times and comply with all company health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and undertake additional duties as required.
