Assistant Accountant

Seeking 1.5-5 years experience in month-end accounting

$90-105k + super

Liverpool (south-western Sydney) offices

The Opportunity

A well-established, purpose-driven organisation is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. Reporting closely to the Finance Manager and CFO, this is a hands-on role with exposure across financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, payroll and finance systems.

The role would suit an Assistant Accountant with 1.5–5+ years’ experience who enjoys a broad role and is looking to further develop their technical accounting and commercial finance skills within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close, journals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including coding, cost centre allocations and resolution of discrepancies.
• Prepare and assist with budget-to-actual and forecast variance analysis.
• Oversee accounting and month-end activities for allocated programs or entities.
• Assist with tax preparation and statutory lodgements.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and efficiencies.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external system providers to resolve issues and improve processes.

About You The successful candidate will have

1-4 years in a comparable role with exposure to GL accounting / month-end work

Part or complete CA/CPA qualifications

Experience across month-end, year-end and audit processes.

Exposure to payroll and statutory compliance

Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems

Excellent attention to detail, organisation and time management

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
