Assistant Management Accountant
Job Description
Assistant Management Accountant
Reporting into: Group Financial Controller
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (DOE)
Role Overview:
At Golfbreaks, we help golfers experience some of the best courses and destinations around the world. As a well-established business operating in a specialist and exciting part of the travel industry, our finance team plays a crucial role in supporting the business and providing clear, reliable financial information.
You will be joining a close-knit and highly skilled finance team with a broad range of knowledge and experience. We are supportive and collaborative, but we also set high standards for accuracy, ownership and delivery. We take pride in the quality of our work and are always looking for ways to strengthen our processes and improve the information we provide to the wider business.
We are looking for either a qualified or part-qualified Assistant Management Accountant who shares those standards and wants to continue developing their experience. You will take responsibility for key areas of the management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations, while building your knowledge of the wider reporting process. The role offers genuine scope to develop end-to-end ownership of the month-end close, from preparing and reviewing journals through to variance analysis, reporting and communicating the results.
If this sounds like the type of team you would like to be part of, and an environment in which you can contribute, learn and continue progressing your career, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review monthly management accounts in line with the reporting timetable.
Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and other adjustments, with appropriate supporting documentation.
Prepare and maintain balance-sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding items.
Complete key month-end processes, including sales revenue recognition, voucher reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Review monthly P&L and balance-sheet movements, investigating and explaining significant variances.
Take ownership of key sales ledger activities and controls, including sales and ancillary invoicing, receipt allocation, account queries and the monitoring of overdue balances and bad debts.
Oversee the daily ECA reconciliation of client receipts, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly investigated.
Review and post overhead and supplier invoices, ensuring costs are accurately coded, appropriately approved and processed within agreed timescales.
Review employee expense claims, ensuring they are accurately coded and comply with company policies.
Complete daily bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding or unusual items.
Process client refunds by bank transfer in line with the company’s authorisation and control procedures.
Assist with year-end audit requests, providing clear and accurate supporting documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
Required Skills and Experience:
Newly qualified or actively studying towards an ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification, or an equivalent recognised accounting qualification.
Has a minimum of two years’ hands-on experience in monthly management accounts and the month-end close.
Has practical experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations.
Has experience working in a high-volume, multi-currency finance environment.
Is confident using Excel, including lookup formulas, SUMIFS and pivot tables.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail and takes ownership of producing accurate, well supported work.
Can manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
Is confident investigating discrepancies, resolving issues and asking questions when something does not look right.
Is proactive, dependable and committed to their continued professional development.

Company Profile
Founded in 1998 by Chief Executive Andrew Stanley, Golfbreaks has grown into a global golf travel business with offices in the UK, US and Scandinavia. We organise an extensive range of golf breaks, holidays and tournament experiences and have sent more than 3 million golfers to over 2,500 resorts and golf courses worldwide.
With over 25 years’ experience, we are the world’s number one rated golf tour operator, with more than 100,000 five-star reviews. Our international reach combines local market knowledge with golf travel expertise, enabling us to deliver outstanding choice, value and service to golfers across the world. In the UK, customers also benefit from the reassurance and security of booking with a fully bonded travel company through both ABTOT and ATOL.
In April 2026, Golfbreaks became part of Sports Tours International, the UK’s largest sports travel group. Following the acquisition, the group’s Golf Holidays Direct brand joined our Windsor operation, bringing two specialist golf travel brands Golfbreaks and Golf Holidays Direct under one roof and creating one of the UK’s largest centres of golf travel expertise. While both brands are run from the UK, Golfbreaks is our global brand, serving customers across the UK, North America and Scandinavia.
Today, we have more than 200 people across our golf travel business, with our head office in Windsor, Berkshire, and international offices in Charleston, South Carolina, and Copenhagen, Denmark. Together, these teams underpin our global operations, combining the strengths of an international business with the personal service and regional expertise our customers value.
This new chapter gives us the scale, expertise and backing to accelerate our international growth, while retaining the specialist knowledge, culture and customer focus that have made Golfbreaks so successful.
