Job Description

About EnergySmart

Established in 1997, EnergySmart is one of New Zealand’s longest-standing and most respected providers of home energy solutions. We’ve delivered tens of thousands of insulation retrofits to Kiwi families and played a major role in government-funded insulation programmes.

More recently, our services have expanded into Heat Pumps, EV car chargers and Ventilation and has grown from retrofitting to installing insulation into new build construction.

We’ve always strived to be a great place to work and have attracted very good people who collectively can be credited for the company’s success. We’re proud of our reputation, our people and the quality of our work. A non-egotistical management style and collaborative work environment creates a positive workplace where people are valued for their contribution and work together to achieve great results. With established systems, an experienced management team and a strong team culture, we have a solid foundation for future growth and are looking for the right person to help us make the most of it.

About the Hamilton Team

You’ll lead a team of 20 people across insulation, heat pump and electrical installations, and sales, with day-to-day support from the Branch Foreperson and Branch Administrator. You’ll have the autonomy to run your branch and drive its success, backed by the expertise and support of our centralised teams at our Christchurch head office.

We pride ourselves on being a results-driven team, that thrives on getting the job done without the office politics.  The branch has a wealth of knowledge and experience, giving you a great foundation to build on. Your challenge is to keep performance on track and identify opportunities to improve and grow.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you’ll take the lead in the day-to-day running of the Hamilton branch, balancing operational performance, people leadership, health and safety, and financial results.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll need to be comfortable working with data and systems, making practical decisions, supporting your team and rolling up your sleeves when needed.  We operate in a fast-moving, highly competitive industry, so you’ll need to cut through the noise quickly, prioritise well, pick things up fast and know when to delegate.

This role offers room to grow. You’ll have the opportunity to strengthen your leadership capability, develop the branch, improve operational performance and play a meaningful part in EnergySmart’s future. If you’re ready to take the next step in your management career, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

Build strong working relationships with builders, site managers and key accounts, keeping them informed on scheduling, progress and any issues.

Respond to customer queries and complaints promptly, take ownership of issues and see them through to a fair resolution.

Quality Management

Ensure all installations meet product specifications, manufacturer requirements, the NZ Building Code and relevant standards.

Address defects and rework quickly, identify root causes and put corrective actions in place to prevent them recurring.

Set clear quality standards for the team and make sure installers are trained to consistently meet them.

Foster a positive, high-performing team culture through fair, clear and consistent communication of expectations, goals and standards.

Support and develop your team through structured training and ongoing feedback
