At Christchurch City Council, we're delivering one of New Zealand's most diverse and ambitious capital works programmes, with projects spanning transport, structures, water, wastewater, stormwater and community infrastructure.

We're seeking expressions of interest from experienced infrastructure professionals for current and future opportunities within our Contract Management team. In particular, we're looking to connect with experienced professionals for a range of opportunities, including:

Contract Managers (Engineer Representative equivalent)

Contracts Representatives (Contract Engineer equivalent)

Whether your experience is in roading, transport structures, retaining walls, water, stormwater, wastewater, civil infrastructure or construction delivery, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Opportunities

Contract Managers

As a Contract Manager, you'll play a key leadership role in delivering critical infrastructure projects across Christchurch. Acting in a role equivalent to an Engineer's Representative under NZS 3910 and NZS 3916, you will be responsible for:

Contract administration

Commercial management and oversight

Risk management

Stakeholder engagement

Project delivery leadership

Projects may include

Roading and transport infrastructure

Retaining walls and structures

Water, wastewater and stormwater assets

Other significant capital works projects

We're particularly interested in hearing from professionals with substantial experience administering NZS 3910 and/or NZS 3916 contracts.

Contracts Representatives

As a Contracts Representative, you'll play a key role supporting the successful delivery of Council’s construction programme.  You’ll work closely with contractors, project teams and stakeholders, and be involved in:

Contract administration and supervision

Construction monitoring and auditing

Contractor relationship management

Tender evaluation support

Community liaison and stakeholder engagement

Ensuring projects are delivered safely on time and within budget

We are interested in hearing from professionals with experience in civil construction, infrastructure delivery, transport structures or three waters projects.

About You

You may come from a range of backgrounds including:

• Local Government
• Contractor organisations
• Engineering consultancies
• Infrastructure providers
• Civil construction companies

You'll likely bring

Experience delivering physical works contracts

Knowledge of NZS 3910 and/or NZS 3916 contracts

Strong commercial and stakeholder management skills

A collaborative and practical approach to project delivery

Experience managing contractors and construction projects

Relevant engineering qualifications are welcomed but we recognise that outstanding contract management professionals come from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
