**The Opportunity**
Across Intermediate, Senior and Lead levels, you’ll advise on contract strategy, procurement and commercial risk while operating modern cost control and reporting disciplines. You’ll apply data‑led commercial insights, digital contract management tools and live dashboards to improve decision‑making. At Lead level, you’ll shape commercial frameworks and playbooks, uplift supplier performance, and standardise commercial governance across portfolios.
**What You’ll Do**
Contract & Commercial Management (NEC / FIDIC / JCT)
- Administer/manage contracts, ensuring robust change control, compensation events/variations, early warnings, claims strategy and commercial governance.
- Draft and advise on contract strategy, procurement routes and delivery models tailored to energy, transport and infrastructure contexts.
- Build collaborative relationships with clients and supply chain to enable dispute avoidance and predictable outcomes.
Commercial Strategy & Advisory
- Advise on risk allocation, KPIs/payment mechanisms and commercial positions through the lifecycle (from business case to close‑out).
- Provide commercial input to investment decisions; identify risks/opportunities and guide negotiation strategies.
- (Senior/Lead) Design commercial playbooks, standard clauses and negotiation frameworks across programmes.
Cost Management, Controls & Reporting
- Maintain cost plans, budgets, cashflow forecasts, VOWD and performance dashboards; integrate with schedule and risk.
- Deliver accurate, insight‑rich reporting to governance forums—calling out variances, risks and opportunities.
- Verify costs and valuations; benchmark unit rates; support audits and cost assurance.
- (Lead) Implement digital cost controls and data standards to enable portfolio‑level transparency.
Digital Commercial Enablement
- Use digital contract management and analytics to track obligations, changes and trends; automate routine reporting.
- Apply commercial intelligence (dashboards, benchmarks, KPIs) to improve supplier performance and outcomes.
- Support adoption of carbon and social value metrics in procurement and contract governance where required.
Governance, Assurance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead/Support commercial reviews, gateway approvals and risk workshops; communicate insights in clear, executive‑ready formats.
- (Lead) Chair cross‑project commercial forums; mentor teams and uplift capability across the portfolio.
**About You**
Essential (all levels): Proven cost & commercial experience in energy/transport/infrastructure; strong working knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, JCT; confident interpreting clauses (change, payment, KPIs, risk); solid cost management and controls; clear communicator and influencer.
Level expectations
- Intermediate (5–10 yrs): Robust contract administration; prepares assessments/responses; builds reliable cost reports/forecasts; supports procurement and tender analysis.
- Senior: Leads commercial workstreams; confident on contract interpretation and claims avoidance; oversees cost reporting and controls; coaches junior staff.
- Lead: Sets programme commercial strategy; shapes procurement models and risk transfer; accountable for commercial performance and assurance; mentors teams; engages at senior client level.
Desirable: Major renewables/grid/generation or transport programme experience; client/consultancy/tier‑one contractor background; RICS/ACostE/CICES; experience with Irish public sector/regulated environments.
