Chief Technology Officer; Part time

Position: Chief Technology Officer (Part time)

The Part‑Time CTO will be a strategic technology leader for one of our clients, responsible for driving continuous innovation, while acting as the primary technology liaison between client leadership and Celestial Systems. The position will be responsible for stitching our client’s Business initiatives into technical roadmap which includes

• Clarify where and how client should invest its technology dollars to scale the business efficiently and sustainably.
• Modernize current systems and architecture so technology becomes a true asset and valuation driver for the company.
• Reduce day‑to‑day technical burden on client’s business team by owning technical decisions and coordination with Celestial.
• Ensure technology strategy and the 3–5-year roadmap are tightly aligned with client’s business goals and growth plans.
• Develop a deep understanding of Our client Fuel’s current business operations and workflows.

Key Responsibilities Business & Technology Strategy

• Develop a clear technology strategy that reflects client’s business model (technology as the main asset) and growth ambitions.
• Translate that strategy into a prioritized 3–5 year roadmap, including modernization, new products, integrations, and AI/automation opportunities.
• Proactively bring forward ideas and options (“pitching tech”) that can create competitive advantage or new revenue streams.
• Identify inefficiencies, manual processes, and bottlenecks where technology can add leverage.

Liaison Between Our client and Celestial

• Act as client’s senior technical representative in all interactions with Celestial and other vendors.
• Validate and refine requirements provided by Andy and the team so they reflect current reality and future needs, not just historical processes.
• Identify practical AI and automation opportunities aligned to business impact.
• Assess feasibility, cost, and readiness before recommending AI adoption.
• Challenge proposed approaches where needed and course‑correct if needed.

Governance, Prioritization, and Decision‑Making

• Establish light‑weight technology governance for client (decision forums, documentation expectations, review checkpoints).
• Help leadership prioritize initiatives and trade‑offs (what to do now vs later; what to stop doing) so tech investment is focused and coherent.
• Own the translation of business requirements into technical direction, so Celestial and other partners can implement efficiently.
• Support leadership in change management and adoption of new systems and processes.
• Ensure technology improvements are usable, adopted, and embedded into operations.

Security, Risk, and Compliance (Oversight)

• Provide oversight of security posture, policy gaps, and compliance considerations, especially as systems modernize and expand.
• Coordinate testing, policy reviews, and similar activities, leveraging specialists and vendors as needed.
