Construction worker / Labourer

About the role

Winton Engineering Ltd is seeking an experienced Construction Worker / Labourer to join our team at our Winton Southland site. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on diverse construction projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will be based on-site around Southland, where you'll contribute directly to the successful delivery of our construction operations and projects.

What you'll be doing

Assisting skilled tradespeople with their tasks and supporting the overall construction workflow

Transporting, loading and unloading building materials, tools and equipment as required

Carrying out general labouring duties including steel fabrication, concrete preparation & boxing work

Operating hand tools and basic power tools in a safe and effective manner

Maintaining accurate records of materials and equipment usage on site

Adhering to all health and safety regulations, site protocols and company policies

Assisting with site housekeeping to ensure a safe and tidy working environment

Supporting the team to meet project deadlines and quality standards

What we're looking for

Proven experience working as a construction labourer or in a similar manual labour role within the trades and services sector

A strong understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites, including awareness of hazards and risk management

Physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding manual work on a daily basis

Competence in the safe use of hand tools, power tools and basic equipment

Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with tradespeople and other site personnel

Reliability and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to punctuality and consistent performance

Flexibility and adaptability when responding to changing site conditions and project requirements

A valid driving licence is advantageous

* Relevant certifications such as CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or equivalent are highly desirable
