Since 1989 the David Lam Centre has remained committed to fostering intercultural dialogue through activities that extend across a broad spectrum of social, cultural and economic issues from both contemporary and historical perspectives. The Centre supports and facilitates research collaboration, networking and building the community of Asia-related scholars across campus and internationally. The Centre furthers the involvement of students in educating and researching the Asia-Pacific region. Lastly the Centre mobilizes and transfers knowledge from the academic research community to the Canadian public.
About The Role
The Coordinator, Administration and Outreach, provides support to the Director of the David Lam Centre in a variety of areas including: budget management; preparation of reports and grant applications; event planning; advancement initiatives; delivery of outreach initiatives; support for a variety of activities aimed at supporting research and scholarship. Establishes and maintains contacts with related local communities and organizations and other stakeholders at the local, provincial, and federal levels.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences, and four years of experience in budget management, event management, outreach and engagement, or additional graduate training.
- Knowledge of Asia-Pacific cultures and social practices.
- Ability to exercise cultural sensitivity.
- Experience in budget planning, and financial management.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Experience in project management and event management.
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines.
