Beau Deli is looking for a seriously good Deli Manager to take the reins of a busy, established neighbourhood deli and help us take it to the next level.

We already have a strong team, a busy shop and a great customer base. We’re doing around 35kg of coffee a week across six days, so this isn’t a quiet café where the manager spends half the day tweaking the playlist.

We need someone who loves being in the middle of a busy operation: leading people, making decisions, solving problems, looking after guests and constantly finding ways to make the business better.

This is a role for someone who wants ownership and responsibility.

You’ll also have an extremely capable Assistant Deli Manager already in place who knows the business well and has loads of growth still within them. Part of your role will be supporting their development and helping them grow into an even stronger leader.

The role

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running and continued growth of Beau Deli, including:

• Leading, motivating and developing the team
• Delivering outstanding customer service and building relationships with our regulars
• Leading a high-volume coffee operation with confidence
• Rostering effectively and managing labour costs without diminishing the customer experience
• Training and developing the team
• Making confident decisions and solving problems as they arise
• Building systems that make the deli more organised, consistent and efficient
• Managing stock, ordering and supplier relationships
• Maintaining high standards across coffee, food, service, cleanliness and presentation
• Finding opportunities to grow sales and improve profitability

Who we're looking for

You’re naturally likeable, confident and switched on.

Customers remember you, staff respect you, and you can have a laugh while still holding high standards.

You don’t need the owner standing beside you telling you what decision to make. You gather the information, make the call and take responsibility for it.

You’ll ideally have

• Experience managing a busy café, deli or hospitality venue
• Strong barista skills and experience with high-volume coffee
• Confidence leading and developing a team
• Strong rostering and labour-cost management skills
• Commercial awareness and an interest in growing sales
• Great organisation and systems thinking
• Confidence having difficult conversations when required
• A calm, practical approach when things go wrong
• * Excellent customer service and people skills
• Most importantly, we want someone who treats the business like it matters.

What this isn't

This isn't the right role if you need every decision approved, avoid difficult conversations, disappear when service gets busy or think management means writing the roster and sending a few emails.

There is a great team here already.

We want someone who can lead them, support them and make them even better.
