Our Technical Services group is currently looking to add a Design Integration Lead to our growing team, based in Port Hawkesbury, NS. Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, we are seeking a detail-oriented design integration professional with proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary design packages on large-scale construction projects. We need someone with the proven skills, competencies, and capacity to act as the technical bridge between design and construction — catching design integration issues before they become costly rework or schedule slippage — and will support mission-critical infrastructure construction projects.Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the technical bridge between design, engineering, and construction, ensuring civil, architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and other design disciplines are fully coordinated and constructible prior to and during field executionOwn the design interface management process, tracking design deliverables against project milestones and flagging dependencies across disciplinesIdentify and resolve conflicts and clashes between disciplines (e.g., mechanical and electrical) before they impact schedule or budgetManage the RFI process between the design team, subcontractors, and site personnel, ensuring timely and accurate resolutionReview and validate design packages for compliance with client specifications, code requirements, and equipment vendor dataPartner with procurement to ensure long-lead equipment specifications remain aligned with the evolving designCoordinate design reviews at the 30%, 60%, and 90% submission stagesManage version control and drawing issuance across multiple design consultantsAct as an authority on design integration, catching issues early to prevent costly rework and schedule slippageComplete other design and project-related tasks assigned by the Director of Technical ServicesRequirementsPost-Secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related fieldExperience in design coordination, design integration, or construction management, ideally on industrial, or other large-scale infrastructure projectsWorking knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls design disciplinesExperience managing RFIs, multi-stage design reviews (30/60/90%), and drawing/version control processes across multiple consultantsPreferred Skills / QualificationsExperience with design/BIM coordination tools (e.g., Navisworks, BIM 360, Revit)Familiarity with data center design and construction standardsExperience working directly with procurement on long-lead equipment specificationsStrong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across design, construction, and procurement teamsBenefitsWe offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.  About our BusinessValard Construction is Canada’s premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
