Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team in a Montessori nursery and preschool. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our nursery and supporting the SLT. This position requires strong leadership skills, a passion for supporting children's development, and the ability to manage and supervise staff effectively.
Responsibilities
The role of the Deputy manager is to manage the team and ensure that any issues are brought to the attention of the SLT (Senior leadership team). It is also your role to support the Manager in running the nursery.
Staff Management when the Manager is unavailable
- To ensure all staff are always following the routine set by the Manager
- To communicate with the team using our core values of Courage, Grace, and Integrity.
- To assign duties to the teachers.
- To ensure smooth running of the floor utilising up to date rotas for lunches etc
- Delegate responsibilities to the team and ensure the nursery is always kept tidy.
- To create a calm and respectful environment for all to work in.
General Management
Parent queries are handled in a timely manner and any messages are passed on appropriately to the office of SLT.
To assist with written communication or speak on the phone to parents when required.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining harmonious and vibrant classrooms throughout the nursery.
Being aware of all the children in the setting on a support or SEND plans, so they can support the whole team with the child.
To be the Deputy Safeguarding lead and being aware of all issue ensuring all the staff are informing as soon as an issue arises.
To be the senior member of staff when the SLT are not available or absent.
Participate in all school events such as parents meetings, Montessori in the home meetings, staff meetings.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a leadership role within an Education/Nursery setting is essential.
Minimum Level 3 Early years qualification. Montessori qualifications or expeience is desirable.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate approach to education.
Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.
A commitment to continuous professional development within the education profession.
