Are you a scientist who wants your work to make a practical, lasting difference? Morphum Environmental is seeking a motivated Environmental Scientist to join our Auckland team.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a broad and interesting mix of environmental work while developing your expertise in a cross-functional, highly collaborative consultancy. You will work closely with our principal and senior scientists through day-to-day project delivery, fieldwork, technical problem-solving and review. The opportunity
As an Environmental Scientist, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects and have opportunities to grow your skills across environmental assessment, monitoring, reporting, and impact assessment. The work will be varied, practical, and directly connected to positive environmental outcomes.
You will work alongside environmental scientists, ecologists, environmental engineers, and GIS/FME analysts, while receiving regular mentoring and support from senior technical specialists.
Depending on your experience and interests, your work may include
• Water quality monitoring and assessments
• Contaminated land assessments
• Environmental management
• Erosion and sediment control assessments
• Field surveys, monitoring and data collection
• Technical reporting and peer reviews
• Environmental and ecological impact assessments
There will also be opportunities to contribute to broader environmental projects and develop complementary skills in project management, ecology, GIS and geomorphology.
About you
You are an engaged and capable scientist who enjoys combining sound science with practical problem-solving. You have a strong interest in water quality, water chemistry, contaminated land environments and are ready for a role that will broaden your experience and accelerate your development.
You will bring:
• A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geography, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years' relevant professional experience, ideally within an environmental consultancy.
• Experience undertaking field investigations and environmental assessments, and preparing clear, high-quality technical reports.
• A sound understanding of New Zealand environmental systems and field assessment methodologies.
• Knowledge of New Zealand environmental legislation, policy, and resource management processes.
• Skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: Water quality and water chemistry, Contaminated land, Environmental management and Erosion and sediment control
• Strong collaboration skills, including contributing to peer reviews and sharing knowledge with colleagues and clients.
• Sound professional judgement and a genuine commitment to sustainable environmental outcomes.
• A willingness to learn from others and continue building your understanding of mātauranga Māori, diversity, equity and inclusion, and low-carbon practice.
