Equipment Hire Manager

Major and Minor is a busy high end event and party equipment rental business. We are seeking a highly organised, practical, and efficient Equipment Hire Manager to manage the logistics of our day-to-day operations.

In this role, you will take ownership of the business and operational logistics, leading a team to deliver equipment for weddings, conferences, and private events. The ideal candidate thrives on responsibility, has a keen eye for detail, and possesses the physical fitness required for the hands-on aspects of the equipment hire industry. Minimum of 30 hours a week.

Core Managerial and Operational Duties

• Operations Management: Overseeing the daily running of the hire facility, ensuring efficient workflow from the warehouse to the event site.
• Staff Leadership: Management of staff, including recruitment, training, daily rostering, and assigning work allocation and tasks.
• Inventory and Systems: End-to-end inventory control, ordering, and managing bookings using specialised rental software.
• Event Logistics: Coordinating and overseeing the delivery, collection, setting up, and packing down of event equipment.
• Quality and Warehouse Control: Organising the warehouse, checking hire items for damage, resolving discrepancies between goods and invoices, and ensuring the high-quality cleaning and polishing of glassware and hire goods.
• Customer Service: Acting as the face of the business through direct customer interaction, resolving queries, and managing client accounts.
• Hands-on Support: Safely offloading and loading vehicles in preparation for events, and undertaking general labouring work when required to support the team.

Requirements and Skills

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant managerial or supervisory experience in event operations, logistics, or service management and a relevant level four qualification.
• Experience using rental/inventory management software.
• A Full NZ Drivers Licence (or equivalent) and a Class 2 Drivers Licence.
• Excellent physical fitness and a willingness to be hands-on; you must be capable of safely lifting 35+ kg individually and carrying equipment up onto trucks.
• Only NZ and citizens need apply.
• Pay: $35.70 per hour
• Expected hours: No more than 50.0 per week
