Farm Worker

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil, plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, combines, backhoes, mowers, track hoes, and ATVS/side by sides. Job requires transporting agricultural products and commodities from the field to storage using farm vehicles and equipment. Job will require changing combine cutting heads; cleaning equipment; cleaning farm shop and structures; performing regular maintenance of equipment; mowing and landscaping on the farm; lifting items as needed; general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, barns and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment including grain augers; and regularly servicing equipment. Duties include manual labor and participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment and clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots; draining excess water from fields; monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields. Position requires receiving crop for drying and storage at grain drying facility; disposing of spoiled grain and chopping grass out of fields; hauling grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment, monitoring grain moisture levels, preparing scale tickets, and shoveling grain. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often, and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Requirements: 3 months of experience. Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, or walking. Criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
