Farmworkers, Farm, Ranch, and Aquacultural Animals
Job Description
Workers will perform seasonal agricultural duties associated with the winter care and handling of beef cattle on a diversified farming operation during the winter livestock season. At the start of the season, young cattle are placed in the livestock barn, and the cattle and barn each require a significant amount of attention throughout the winter months. Primary duties include moving livestock, livestock handling, and routine livestock health and wellbeing care. Workers will perform livestock barn care and maintenance throughout the winter months, when Wisconsin winter conditions make livestock and barn work labor intensive. Workers will operate farm tractors, loaders, and farm trucks in the course of their assigned agricultural duties. Workers will also perform scheduled maintenance on farm equipment, including tractors, trucks, harvest equipment, planting equipment, and tillage equipment, to prepare the equipment for the upcoming growing season. Workers will perform general farm labor directly related to the livestock operation and the preparation of farm equipment. Duties are seasonal in nature and directly support the employer's winter livestock care and the scheduled maintenance and preparation of farm equipment, which must be completed before the growing season begins. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
