Field Service Technician

Jenkins Freshpac Systems is a long-established, family-owned New Zealand business supplying, installing and servicing automated post-harvest machinery and packaging solutions across New Zealand and Australia.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Service Technician to join the Tauranga team, servicing customers throughout the Bay of Plenty and wider Upper North Island.

You’ll work with specialised labelling, packhouse, packing, strapping and automation equipment, carrying out servicing, preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs, installations, rebuilds and customer training.

In this role, you will:

Service, maintain and repair electrical, mechanical and automated equipment.

Carry out scheduled, preventative, in-season and post-harvest servicing.

Install and commission new and rebuilt equipment.

Diagnose faults and provide practical solutions.

Train customers and provide technical support.

Complete service documentation and job records accurately.

Assist with equipment trials, rebuilds and technical projects.

Build strong customer relationships.

Maintain high standards of safety and workmanship.

Travel throughout the Upper North Island and occasionally further afield.

This is a full-time permanent role. Hours depend upon business needs.

General Hours

Out of season (Aug to Jan) - Hours are generally Mon-Fri Day shift

Peak Season (Late Jan – Early Aug) – Hours can involve weekends and night shifts and with overtime.

Please note due to the nature of the industry there is an on-call roster to cover emergency breakdowns, this is shared amongst the team on a rotational basis. There is an allowance for being on call as well as overtime rates for call outs.

What we are looking for

You’ll be a practical, technically capable technician who enjoys working independently and directly with customers.

Ideally, you will have

EST ticket is preferred but we can support the right person to get this.

Experience in electrical or engineering service work.

Strong electrical, mechanical and fault-finding skills.

Good communication and customer service skills.

The ability to work autonomously and take ownership.

A commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

A current Full Class 1 Driver Licence.

Flexibility to travel and support seasonal requirements.

A trade qualification and experience with packhouse, labelling, automation, packing or strapping equipment, Simpro Field Service Management App would be an advantage.
