FOOD TRAILER EVENT MANAGER / DRIVER

Broke Boy Taco – Auckland

We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on person to help run our Broke Boy Taco food trailer at events around Auckland and occasionally further afield.

The two biggest parts of this role are towing the food trailer to and from events and working front-of-house during service, taking orders and looking after customers.

You do not need to know everything about operating a food trailer already. We will train you on the trailer-specific setup and pack-down process.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll be responsible for helping operate the trailer from start to finish on event days, including:

• Picking up the food trailer from our storage location
• Towing the trailer safely to the event
• Positioning and setting up the trailer
• Taking customer orders and providing great customer service
• Helping manage and coordinate the team working on the trailer
• Making sure service runs smoothly
• Helping with general front-of-house duties during busy periods
• Assisting with pack-down and close at the end of the event
• Towing the trailer back and returning it safely to storage

You’ll also be trained on the operational side of the trailer, including:

• Filling and managing the trailer’s water tanks
• Connecting and changing gas bottles
• Setting up power and equipment
• Opening and closing procedures
• Basic troubleshooting
• Making sure the trailer is secure and ready for transport

MUST HAVE

• Your own truck/vehicle capable of safely towing the food trailer
• Full NZ driver license
• Confidence and experience towing trailers
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work nights and weekends
• Reliability — if you’re booked for an event, we need to know you’ll be there
• Confidence working independently and taking responsibility

IDEALLY YOU WILL ALSO HAVE

Hospitality or customer service experience

Experience taking orders or working front-of-house

Experience supervising or leading a small team

Food truck, events, catering or festival experience

Previous food trailer experience is helpful, but not essential. We can train the right person on the technical side of the trailer.

HOURS

This is an event-based contractor/casual role, so hours will vary depending on our event calendar.

Most work will be on weekends, evenings and during major events.
