Flame Bar & Grill is a Queenstown institution. Renowned for its exceptional ribs and steak, high-energy service and vibrant atmosphere, Flame has been delivering memorable dining experiences for more than 18 years.

Sunfire is our lively waterfront restaurant, centered around beautifully crafted food cooked over charcoal. Open from breakfast through dinner, it has quickly become a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

Both restaurants are busy, fast-paced and full of personality. We care deeply about our standards, our guests and the people who make the restaurants what they are. And we are looking for people who share that mindset!

Head Bartender

We're looking for an experienced bartender to lead from behind the bar - setting the pace during service, maintaining excellent standards and developing a capable and organised team.

Your responsibilities will include -

Leading the bar team through busy, high-volume services

Maintaining excellent cocktail, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverage standards

Setting expectations for speed, cleanliness, preparation and organisation

Training, coaching and supporting bartenders

Managing workflow and team deployment during service

Supporting ordering, stock control, inventory and wastage management

You will bring strong cocktail knowledge, confident leadership and the ability to remain calm and organised when the restaurant is at its busiest. This could suit an established Head Bartender or an excellent senior bartender ready to take the next step.

Experienced Bartenders

• We are also looking for bartenders who thrive in busy service and take genuine pride in their work.
• You will bring -
• Experience in a fast-paced bar or restaurant
• Strong knowledge of classic cocktails
• Excellent pouring standards and attention to detail
• Speed, cleanliness and disciplined bar organisation
• Great teamwork and communication
• Confidence engaging with guests and recommending food and drinks

Experienced Baristas

• Our baristas are an important part of Sunfire’s busy breakfast and lunch services.
• You will bring -
• Experience working in a fast-paced café or restaurant
• Strong espresso preparation and milk-texturing skills
• Consistency, speed and confident latte art
• An organised approach to barista workflow
• Basic cocktails knowledge or an interest in learning
