\r\n\r\nJob Description\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe Opportunity:\r\n\r\nHealth & Safety Nurse will work closely with Managers, Supervisors and individual employees to promote occupational health and safety compliance in the plant.  They will focus on education, promotion, and restoration of employee’s health; as well as, monitor positive health models to make Maple Leaf a safe and healthy work environment\r\n \r\n\r\nAny MLF team member interested in being considered for this role are encouraged to apply online by August 19. The base salary offered may vary based on a variety of factors including skills, experience, education, training, job- related knowledge, and other organizational requirements. For part-time roles, salaries are adjusted according to scheduled hours. \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nSnapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tManage WSIB claims including early intervention, administration, early and safe return to work plans.\r\n\tLiaise and communicate with all medical and health professionals providing care to employees if that care impacts employee’s capabilities\r\n\tAct as the WSIB Program Administrator\r\n\tFile Form 7’s\r\n\tInitiate the Return to Work program with the support of Operations and Reliability\r\n\tKeep an up to date Modified Work Tracker to ensure workers are being accommodated appropriately and communicate with the appropriate Team Leaders/Group Leaders/Operations Leaders/Health and Safety if updates are required.\r\n\tReview all accepted WSIB claims for potential of appeal, file appeals and ultimately present submissions in support of the appeal\r\n\tAssist supervisors in more advanced first aid for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.\r\n\tParticipates in the Occupational Health maintenance program through various activities.\r\n\tTeaching and encouraging employees to practice healthy lifestyles.\r\n\tPromoting a safe and healthy work environment.\r\n\tMaintain confidential medical records\r\n\tReferrals to employee assistance providers as necessary.\r\n\tComplete monthly first aid kits inventory inspections and re-stock as necessary. \r\n\tComplete monthly AED inspections.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat You’ll Bring:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tRegistered Nurse or nurse practitioner\r\n\tMaintain a safe and clean working environment.\r\n\tEducating employees about preventative care and prescribed treatments.\r\n\tExperience in WSIB claims management.\r\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\r\n\tGood interpersonal skills and ability to work with Union and Management.\r\n\tAbility to multi-task and meet deadlines with high level of accuracy.\r\n\tProficient in Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).\r\n\tAbility to excel in a fast-paced changing manufacturing environment.\r\n\tAbility to take the initiative and problem solve.\r\n\tWork with minimal supervision and be active team member.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat We Offer at Maple Leaf Foods:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBeing part of a high-performance, people-focused company that has an inspiring and unique vision to become the most sustainable protein company on earth, and a deep commitment to sustainable protein across North America.\r\n\tAn inclusive company culture and a work environment that keeps our people safe, rewards excellence, and empowers everyone to learn and contribute their best. \r\n\tCompetitive Health and Wellness benefits that offer flexibility to meet your individual or family needs, including programs focused on improving mental health and wellbeing.
