Housekeeping Manager

Fiordland Lodge reopens on 15 December 2026. Cleanliness and presentation are the most frequently mentioned element of any lodge review, and this role owns all of it — rooms, public areas, linen and amenities, across both the lodge and The Lake House.

The interesting part of the job is the turnaround: twelve departure rooms plus The Lake House inside a four-and-a-half-hour window, which means coordinating cross-department support as well as leading your own team.

What you will be doing

•   Set, document and maintain the room and public-area presentation standard for both properties

•   Allocate rooms daily and inspect every departure room before release

•   Manage linen par levels, laundry, amenities and housekeeping consumables against budget

•   Roster, train and supervise the housekeeping team, and coordinate cross-department turnaround support

•   Own the presentation and servicing of The Lake House, including exclusive-use preparation

What we are looking for

•   Three or more years in housekeeping, including at least one supervising a team

•   Ideally luxury or boutique accommodation experience

•   Working knowledge of linen management, chemical safety and room-standard auditing

•   Health and safety and manual handling training; a full New Zealand driver licence is desirable

•   A forensic eye for detail, and a preference for leading from the floor rather than the office
