Lodge Host

Fiordland Lodge is set to reopen on 15 December 2026. The Lodge Host is the difference between a well-run lodge and a memorable one — the person who researches guests before they arrive, shapes their days in Fiordland, and is the familiar face throughout their stay.

It is an unusual role, and deliberately so. Alongside the hosting, you will plan, cook and deliver private dinners at The Lake House with a single service person. If you can hold a room and hold a pass, we would like to hear from you.

What you will be doing

•   Research every arriving guest and build a preference profile before they land

•   Welcome arrivals, host pre-dinner canapés and personally farewell departures

•   Design and book itineraries — Milford and Doubtful Sound, walks, heli-experiences, fishing and guided days

•   Lead the guest experience at The Lake House, including exclusive-use stays and private dining

•   Plan, cook and deliver private dinners to the Executive Chef's menus, costings and food safety standards

What we are looking for

•   Three or more years in luxury hospitality with a hosting, concierge or villa-host element

•   Genuine cooking competence to a standard suitable for private dining at a premium lodge

•   Strong knowledge of Fiordland and Southland, or the ability to acquire it quickly

•   A full, clean New Zealand driver licence and a current first aid certificate; a Manager's Certificate is desirable

•   Warmth without intrusion, an excellent memory for people, and complete discretion
