HSEQ Advisor
Job Description
About the role
You will work alongside project managers, supervisors, operational teams and group HSEQ manager to provide HSEQ guidance, assurance and support across multiple projects and worksites. This is a hands-on, field and office-based role focused on supporting our projects, engaging with our workforce and ensuring our systems translate into practical outcomes on site.
Key responsibilities
Providing practical HSEQ advice and support to operational leaders and project teams.
Conducting site inspections, audits and verification activities.
Supporting hazard identification, risk assessment and control implementation.
Assisting with incident investigations and corrective actions.
Monitoring compliance with legislation, client requirements and company standards.
Supporting environmental and quality management processes.
Delivering toolbox talks, coaching and workforce engagement initiatives.
Contributing to continuous improvement of HSEQ systems and procedures.
Preparing HSEQ reports, statistics and performance metrics.
Building positive relationships with clients, regulators and operational teams.
About you
Relevant qualification in Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Management or similar.
Experience in a HSE, HSEQ or Safety Advisor position.
Practical experience within construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, industrial services, rope access or related industries.
Strong understanding of New Zealand health and safety legislation.
Incident investigation experience.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to influence and engage people at all levels of the business.
Strong organisational and reporting skills.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Desirable: ICAM or similar investigation training, internal auditor qualifications, experience working within ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, experience working across multiple sites and projects.
