Human Resources Manager

About the role

Lead the day-to-day HR function for 2 Cheap Cars, providing practical and commercially sound HR support to managers and employees. The role is responsible for the employment lifecycle, employee relations, recruitment, HR systems, immigration compliance, payroll support and HR reporting, ensuring processes are consistent, accurate and compliant with New Zealand employment requirements.

Key responsibilities

Manage the employment lifecycle through the company HRIS (currently Employment Hero), from pre-employment and onboarding through to changes in employment and exit

Prepare and maintain employment agreements, variations, letters, employee files and HRIS records, ensuring information is complete, current and confidential

Maintain HR workflows, employee data, leave and time-and-attendance records and ensure required actions are completed within agreed timeframes

Coordinate recruitment with hiring managers, including job descriptions, advertising, screening, interviews, offers and onboarding

Complete required pre-employment checks, including references, right-to-work/visa checks and other checks relevant to the role

Provide managers with practical guidance on performance, conduct, attendance, leave, grievances, restructures and other employment matters

Manage or coordinate formal HR processes using fair process, clear documentation and applicable New Zealand employment law

Monitor employment practices, policies and employee records for compliance with employment, privacy and right-to-work requirements

Manage company immigration and visa compliance, including visa records, job check/job token processes where required, expiry tracking and liaison with Immigration New Zealand or external advisers

Work with Finance and managers to support accurate and timely payroll by ensuring employee changes, leave, timesheets and other HR inputs are correct and provided by cut-off

About you

Demonstrated generalist HR experience with sound working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and fair process

Experience managing HR systems and employee data; experience with Employment Hero is preferred

Strong judgement and the ability to give practical, commercially aware advice while managing risk

Clear written and verbal communication, strong organisation and attention to detail

Able to manage competing priorities, follow matters through to completion and maintain confidentiality

Experience with employer immigration compliance or visa processes is advantageous
