The Role:

We are seeking a permanent, fulltime industrial electrician whose primary function will be to perform electrical and mechanical maintenance and troubleshoot within a large manufacturing plant environment.  Located in Kawerau, this role involves shift work Monday to Sunday on a 12 hour day as per shift roster , alternating between Day and Night-shifts every 2nd week, a minimum of 40 hours per week.

You will attend to electrical and mechanical issues in a prompt, safe and efficient manner.  You will be an effective decision maker with a strong ability to think on your feet.  You will be able to work well under pressure and be a strong team player.

Job tasks and responsibilities:

Electrical maintenance and Mechanical and troubleshooting

Breakdown response

Preventative as well as reactive maintenance

Fault finding and troubleshooting combined with great problem solving ability to keep downtime to a minimum.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Qualified in one of the following (Maintenance & Diagnostics, Fitting & Turning, Electrical) with at least 2 to 3 years work experience in the Engineering field.

New Zealand Registered Electrician (EWRB) full license desirable with at least 3 years relevant experience

Experience in a fast moving manufacturing environment, saw milling a bonus.

Strong mechanical knowledge required

Be able to weld & gas cut

Experience with bearing fits, installation & removal

Experience working on pneumatic systems & components

Experience working on hydraulic systems & components

Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

Familiar with Siemens PLC’s (programming a bonus)

Familiarity with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), especially Schneider Altivar and ABB ACS series.

Familiarity with photoelectric, proximity inductive, and IO Link capable sensors.

* Familiarity with Industrial networks such as ProfiNet and ProfiBUS.
