Inwards Goods Assistant

Service Foods Christchurch is seeking a motivated Inwards Goods Assistant to join our fast-growing team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across multiple aspects of our operations while being part of a collaborative, supportive team.

Position snapshot:

Start Date: Immediate

Position: Permanent, full-time

Schedule: Monday to Friday (08:00 am – 04:30 pm)

Location: Cumnor Terrace, Woolston

Your Role

As an all-rounder, you’ll support the operations team in various tasks. The ideal candidate will have a solid warehouse background, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn our in-house software, SAGE. A current forklift licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and accurately record all incoming goods (chiller, freezer, ambient and produce).

Unload and check product quality, ensuring compliance with standards.

Barcoding, pricing, and documentation of inwards goods.

Handle discrepancies, damages, and stock variances efficiently.

Ensure proper labelling and categorization of all items.

Maintain a clean and organized inwards goods area.

Coordinate with the warehouse team for proper storage and stock rotation (FIFO).

Perform regular stock checks and assist with inventory management.

Process paperwork and data entry accurately and on time.

Assist with outgoing orders and returns.

Adhere to health, safety, and food hygiene standards.

Perform heavy lifting and work in temperature-controlled environments.

The Ideal Candidate

While prior experience in a similar role or the food/warehousing industry is an advantage, it is not essential. We value reliability, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.

Key qualifications and skills include:

Forklift licence (required)

Physical fitness for heavy lifting and cold environments

Good literacy and numeracy skills

Reliable attendance, flexibility and own transportation

Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new systems

Previous warehouse or pick-packing experience (desirable)

Knowledge of basic food ingredients and NZ work experience (a plus)

Positive, honest, and reliable team player with excellent communication skills
