About the role

Evolution Building Solutions Limited is seeking an experienced Joiner to join our team in Auckland and Region.

The successful candidate will manufacture, assemble, prepare, fit and install bespoke architectural joinery and associated components. The role is primarily workshop-based, with site installation and related work undertaken as required.

Key duties and responsibilities

Reading and interpreting shop drawings, architectural drawings, specifications and cutting information to determine dimensions, materials and assembly requirements.

Measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, drilling, trimming and preparing timber, engineered wood, MDF, plywood, melamine, laminate and other joinery materials.

Manufacturing and assembling custom joinery components, including cabinets, carcasses, doors, panels, shelving, architectural wall linings, timber features and stair components.

Using woodworking machinery, hand tools and power tools to manufacture, assemble and finish joinery components.

Fitting and adjusting hinges, drawer runners, doors, drawers, shelving, hardware and other joinery fittings.

Assembling prepared components using appropriate joinery, fixing and fastening methods.

Checking dimensions, alignment, operation and quality of completed joinery against drawings and specifications.

Preparing completed joinery for transport and installation.

Carrying out modifications, adjustments, repairs and remedial work to joinery where required.

Attending construction sites as required to install, fit, scribe, adjust and finish manufactured joinery and architectural timber or board components.

Taking and checking site measurements and making appropriate adjustments to joinery components to suit site conditions.

Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas and complying with company and site health and safety requirements.

Working with workshop staff, installers, project managers, supervisors and other trades to complete joinery projects to the required standard.

Performing other reasonable duties related to the Employee’s position, skills and experience as may be required from time to time.

Skills and experience

Applicants must have

Relevant joinery experience; and/or

Experience reading and interpreting shop drawings and architectural plans;

Practical experience using woodworking machinery, hand tools and power tools;

Experience manufacturing and assembling custom joinery;

The ability to work accurately from measurements and specifications;

Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship;

The ability to work independently and as part of a team;

An understanding of workplace health and safety requirements;
