Junior Design Engineer

Main Purpose of the Role

As a Graduate Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers and operational teams to support the design, development, installation and continuous improvement of engineering projects across the business.

This role provides practical, hands-on experience across manufacturing, maintenance, engineering design, projects and operational improvement activities. You will be involved in solving real engineering challenges while developing your technical knowledge and understanding of engineering best practice within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Engineering Support

Assist with the design and development of new equipment, machinery and engineering solutions.

Produce and update engineering drawings and technical documentation using Solidworks software.

Support engineering projects from concept through to implementation.

Carry out engineering calculations, measurements and site surveys as required.

Assist in preparing technical reports, specifications and project documentation.

Project Work

Support the planning, coordination and delivery of engineering projects.

Work with contractors, suppliers and internal departments to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Monitor project progress and report on key milestones and actions.

Assist with equipment installations, modifications and commissioning activities.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve plant performance, reliability and efficiency.

Assist with root cause analysis and problem-solving activities relating to equipment and processes.

Work closely with operational and maintenance teams to implement improvement initiatives.

Participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Assist in work to be carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.

Follow safe systems of work and contribute to maintaining a positive safety culture.

Support risk assessments and engineering reviews where required.

Assist in engineering activities to comply with relevant legislation, standards and company requirements.

General Responsibilities

Build effective working relationships with colleagues across all departments.

Attend engineering meetings and contribute ideas and solutions.

Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.

Participate in training and development activities.

Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Ideal Qualifications

2+ years industry experience in design engineering

Experience with Solidworks 3D design

General knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems

Hands on experience with machinery

Minimum requirements

2 years industry experience in design engineering with any 3D design package

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Familiar with Microsoft office applications

Ability to work in a team environment
