About the role
Untouched World is looking for a practical, hands-on Junior Maintenance & Facilities Technician to join our team for 20 hours per week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, however we could be flexible on days and start times for the right candidate.
Reporting directly to the Head Maintenance Planner and Technician, this is a varied role that will involve supports the maintenance of production equipment, facilities and services across the plant and keeping them operating safely and efficiently. Alongside general maintenance duties, you will have the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge working with our Shima Seiki knitting machines, carrying out routine maintenance, inspections, cleaning and basic repairs.
You don’t need to have previous experience working with Shima Seiki machines – training will be provided. We are looking for someone with either a formal qualification or working maintenance experience, a practical approach to problem solving, and an interest in learning how specialised machinery works.
Responsibilities will include
- Carrying out general maintenance and repairs across our facilities and work areas
- Identifying and addressing maintenance issues before they become larger issues
- Undertaking routine maintenance, cleaning and servicing Shima Seiki knitting machines
- Replacing machine parts and needs as required
- Assisting with troubleshooting and resolving machinery issues
- Keeping machinery, tools and maintenance areas clean, organised and well maintained
- Carrying out preventative maintenance to help keep equipment operating reliably
- Working safely and following relevant workplace health and safety procedures
- Liaising with team members to identify and prioritise maintenance requirements
- Supporting wider team with practical maintenance tasks as required
About you
• Experience in general maintenance, repairs or in a similar hands-on trade environment
• Practical, mechanically minded and confident using a range of tools
• Comfortable diagnosing problems and finding practical solutions
• Reliable, organised, particularly when working with machinery
• Detail-oriented, particularly when working with machinery and small components
• A steady hand and the ability to have sustained focus on fine detail work and small parts.
• This role will include elements of heavy lifting, standing for expending periods and carrying out practical maintenance work safely.
