Synechron seeks a Mainframe System Engineer (z / OS) whose responsibilities include supporting Mainframe components and software, installing, testing, maintenance and documentation on mainframe z / OS systems in a sysplex environment along with projects as required. In addition, support of the Control-D output management system.

The Role : Responsibilities

Daily support of the mainframe components and software to ensure the overall health of mainframe environment.

Moderate problem resolution – resolving problems to final resolution with root cause.

Ability to work with our vendors to trouble shoot problems and fixes as well as the ability to provide and identify diagnostics needed for root cause.

Proactive daily monitoring of key mainframe system metric to identify improvement opportunities.

Installing third-party mainframe software and software fixes.

Responding to client requests for access management authorization.

Requirements

Experience with z / OS architecture mainframe systems in a sysplex environment is required for a candidate to be considered for this role.

5+ years of experience in a mainframe support role is required.

Moderate understanding of system concepts of IT Infrastructure environments.

Moderate understanding of z architecture hardware.

Moderate working ability to a programming language, i.e. Assembler, COBOL, REXX, SAS.

Moderate knowledge of JCL, TSO / ISPF and SDSF concepts and functionality.

Moderate knowledge of BMC Control-D output management infrastructure and components.

Understands and practices documented testing and implementation procedures.

Knowledge of Disaster Recovery concepts.

Strong skills in both verbal and written communication.

Strong analytical thinking.
