Mechanical Engineering Graduate
Job Description
SeedSpider is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Graduate to join our engineering and production team. This is a practical, hands-on role focused on production documentation, engineering processes, change management and practical improvements, with opportunities to support smaller mechanical design tasks as your capability develops.
You’ll work closely with the Mechanical Engineering Team, supporting the Workshop and Engineering teams to improve how we build, document and develop the WeedSpider.
Detailed Role Content
The Role
Working alongside the Mechanical Engineering Team and across Robotics, Workshop and Operations, you will help turn engineering requirements into clear, practical information and processes for production.
A large part of the role will involve production drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, technical documentation and engineering change management. You’ll also support practical process improvements and smaller design tasks as your experience and capability develop.
What you'll be doing
- ● Develop and maintain production drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions and technical documentation.
- ● Support the development and improvement of processes that provide greater clarity and consistency in machine assembly.
- ● Identify documentation and process gaps that create uncertainty or inefficiency in production.
- ● Maintain accurate drawings, BOMs and technical information.
- ● Support the implementation and communication of approved engineering changes and revisions.
- ● Work closely with Engineering and Workshop to ensure production teams have clear, current information.
- ● Assist with smaller mechanical design tasks, CAD modelling and practical engineering solutions.
- ● Support the practical introduction of design improvements into production.
- ● Assist with troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues during assembly and production.
- ● Work across Engineering, Robotics and Workshop to help improve how SeedSpider machines are built.
- What we're looking for
You'll ideally have
- ● A Bachelor's with Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, or be nearing completion.
- ● Working knowledge of CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- ● An understanding of mechanical design, engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
- ● Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- ● A methodical, practical approach and good attention to detail.
- ● Confidence using spreadsheets and business software.
- Experience with fabrication, machining, mechanical assembly, technical drawings, BOMs, engineering change management or production processes would be advantageous.
- We're also interested in graduates who have a genuine interest in robotics, agricultural machinery and practical engineering, and who want to see their work move from design through to an actual working machine.
What success looks like
You'll help increase the engineering team's capacity while making it easier for the Workshop to build machines correctly and consistently. Success will mean better drawings and documentation, clearer production processes, effective communication of engineering changes and practical improvements to the way we build the WeedSpider.
This is a genuine opportunity to develop your engineering capability alongside experienced designers while making a practical contribution to a growing technology and agricultural business.
