Project Information

ACCIONA leads the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant in Perth, delivered with Water Corporation and Jacobs through the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance. Stage 1 will produce 150 million litres of drinking water a day, with delivery targeted for 2028. ACCIONA will also operate and maintain the plant for ten years, helping secure Perth's water supply as rainfall declines and demand grows.

About the Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in leading the site's mechanical maintenance function. You will guide and support a team of Mechanical Fitters and contractors, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of preventative, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities.

As a visible leader on site, you will work closely with Operations, Planning, Stores, and Electrical teams to maximise plant availability and reliability. By applying structured root cause analysis and continuous improvement principles, you will help drive equipment performance, improve maintenance practices, and reduce downtime. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where your expertise will have a direct impact on operational success.

Key accountabilities for the position will be

• Lead and supervise Mechanical Fitters on daily maintenance work
• Deliver preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance to approved schedules
• Respond to breakdowns and restore plant assets safely and quickly
• Supervise mechanical contractors and verify their quality and compliance
• Enforce safety and environmental requirements, including field risk assessments
• Drive root cause analysis, reliability improvements and procedure updates
• Occasional ad hoc out of hours support

Required Skills and Competencies

- Mechanical trade qualification, such as fitter and turner

- Current Australian manual licence and Construction White Card

- Proven trades and contractor supervision under Permit to Work

- Hands-on fault-finding on pumps, valves and rotating equipment

- Preferred: desalination or water treatment plant experience
