About the Role:
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Operating Theatre Technicians to join our team at the Royal Children's Hospital. This is an ongoing full time position at 76 hours per fortnight within the Operating Theatres.
As a member of the multidisciplinary perioperative team, you will provide essential technical and operational support to assist in the safe, efficient and effective delivery of surgical care. Working collaboratively with nursing, anaesthetic and surgical teams, you will help prepare and maintain the operating theatre environment and equipment, support the safe transportation and positioning of patients, and contribute to maintaining high standards of infection prevention and patient safety.
This is a dynamic and rewarding role suited to someone who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical environment and is committed to providing high-quality support for children, families and the teams caring for them.
What you'll achieve:
Prepare and maintain operating theatres, equipment and technology to support the safe and efficient delivery of surgical procedures.
Assist with the safe transportation, transfer and positioning of patients throughout their perioperative journey.
Work collaboratively with nursing, anaesthetic, surgical and other multidisciplinary team members to support safe, high-quality patient care.
Contribute to efficient theatre workflow and turnaround, responding flexibly to changing clinical and operational priorities.
Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, workplace health and safety, and safe equipment management.
Support the orientation, training and development of new, casual and developing Theatre Technicians as required.
Contribute to a positive team culture and opportunities for continuous improvement within Perioperative Services.
Your skills and experience:
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to work both independently and under direction, demonstrating initiative and appropriate judgement within the scope of the role.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and respond effectively in a busy and changing clinical environment.
Ability to safely undertake the physical and manual handling requirements associated with the Theatre Technician role.
A strong commitment to patient safety, infection prevention and control, and workplace health and safety.
A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to respond to changing clinical and operational requirements.
Commitment to ongoing learning, professional development and maintaining the technical skills and competencies required for the role.

Classification for this position is Grade 3 (IN09) (Full-Time Ongoing, FTE Base Salary $73,986.64 per annum, plus superannuation)

Other requirements:
Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
Valid Working with Children Check
Compliance with RCHs "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedure
