About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced R&D Operations Manager to support financial planning, analytics, and stakeholder engagement within a dynamic biotech/pharma environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex, matrixed organizations and can bridge financial operations with strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Budget & Financial Management

• Lead planning, forecasting, and monitoring of actuals vs. budget
• Manage accounting/finance deadlines: quarter close, accruals, reclassing, annual planning, long-range planning, and year-end close
• Provide variance analysis and guide stakeholders through financial processes

Operational Oversight

• Oversee PO/contract management, monitoring, and closures
• Track invoices and resolve discrepancies with suppliers
• Ensure compliance with financial cycles and reporting requirements

Data Analytics & Reporting

• Maintain Anaplan models and dashboards
• Build and analyze dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
• Deliver actionable insights to leadership and budget owners

Stakeholder Communication

• Partner with budget owners, teams, and leadership with executive presence
• Deliver clear, effective communications that drive organizational change
• Collaborate across R&D functions to align financial and operational priorities

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree + 3 years of biotech/pharma business operations or financial analytics experience OR
• Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of biotech/pharma business operations or financial analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with financial reporting and forecasting
• Familiarity with the drug development process and R&D functions
• Proficiency with enterprise tools: SAP, Ariba, Anaplan
• Advanced skills in Excel, and experience with Tableau, Smartsheet, MS Teams
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders
• Proactive, quick learner who thrives in complex environments
