Operations Manager - Leadership Opportunity - Central Glass

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the glazing industry, leads by example, and knows how to get the best out of a team. You'll balance operational planning and business performance with a practical, approachable leadership style, supporting the team in the workshop and on-site. Working closely with the leadership team, you'll oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to a high standard. You'll also play a key role in improving processes and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key responsibilities

Lead by example, setting clear expectations and maintaining high standards of workmanship.

Coordinate and support the team to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Provide guidance and practical support to glaziers and apprentices when required.

Monitor team performance and address any issues constructively.

Encourage teamwork, accountability, and open communication across the business.

Ensure the team has the tools, materials, and information needed to carry out their work effectively.

Support staff development by identifying training needs and opportunities to build skills.

Plan and coordinate day-to-day operations to meet business objectives.

Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability.

Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures.

About you

A recognized glazing qualification.

Strong practical experience across residential and light commercial glazing.

Sound knowledge of glazing systems, installation methods, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.

Proven leadership and people management skills.

Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational performance.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Commercial awareness and the ability to manage resources and performance targets.
