About the role

You will provide accessible, practical support to people experiencing mental distress, addiction challenges or pressures affecting their wellbeing. Working alongside our wider team, you will help whānau identify their goals, strengthen connections and take steps towards positive change.

Key responsibilities

Building trusting relationships with individuals and whānau.

Supporting wellbeing goals through practical, strengths-based support.

Helping people access health services, community resources and social support.

Encouraging participation in activities that strengthen connection and wellbeing.

Working collaboratively with colleagues and other services.

Maintaining accurate records and contributing to safe, coordinated care.

About you

Experience in community support, mental health, addictions or a related field.

A relevant qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.

Commitment to kaupapa Māori practice, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive care.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse whānau.

The ability to work independently and contribute to a supportive team.

Good organisational skills and confidence with documentation and computer systems.

A current full driver licence.

Te Paepae Ārahi Trust is a kaupapa Māori mental health and addiction provider supporting individuals and whānau across the Hutt Valley. Our mahi is grounded in Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Tautokotanga, Pūmautanga and Mana Motuhake. We work alongside whānau to build on their strengths, support recovery and improve access to the help they need.
