Poultry Vaccination Technician I

Job Description Summary

We are seeking an outstanding individual who will be responsible for vaccinations, bird moves, male selection, grading, cleaning, and disinfecting all equipment involved to ensure bio-security. All duties should be performed with safety, bio-security, and animal welfare being top priorities. This role plays a critical part in overall success of the farm operations within the vaccination crew. This crew has primary responsibilities for the animal care and welfare of the birds.Job Description:

- Work with day old chicks

- Will be required to collect birds for moving, weighing, and vaccinations

- Must be able to work with live animals and the associated environment (poultry houses)

- Collect blood samples, band/tag or remove tags from birds

- Must follow Animal Care Standards, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and Bio-Security policies and procedures

- Ability to work with chemicals such as detergents, disinfects, etc.

- Must perform essential duties in a safe and efficient manner as trained

- Must be able to be around farm related smells or odors and loud/noisy environment

- May occasionally work up to 6 days a week, including some holidays, & weekends.

Job Qualifications

• Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple task
• Ability to perform work that is repetitive in nature
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrist
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50lbs
• Bend and stoop throughout the shift
• Animal husbandry experience preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license is a must.
• Able to work in outside temperatures.
• Able to work well in teams.
