Primary Healthcare Nurse (Parental leave cover)

Term: 12-14 months

Hours / FTE: 40hrs/week (1.0FTE)

Location:Newtown, Wellington (with flexibility to work in our other locations--Broadway Health Clinic (Strathmore Park) or Student Health and Counselling Centre (Massey University)

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi - About the role

Triage and clinical assessment of patient condition, review medical and nursing management and develop a crisis plan as required

Educate and support chronically ill patients; inform caregivers of the chronically ill, to ensure their ability to provide care

Share in achieving objectives in agreed health promotion and disease prevention initiatives e.g., recalls, well-health checks, education

Assist patients to gain appropriate support and representation to understand the patient’s culture, needs and preference

Liaise with community groups and health workers, establish and maintain active communication networks to build up client contact within the service and wider community

Participate in peer and clinical reviews, monthly Professional Supervision and staff meetings to improve quality of service

A current & valid APC with New Zealand Nursing Council

A natural passion to help people, and build relationship with patients from diverse communities

Intellectual curiosity, and a 'can-do' attitude

Provide solutions to the challenges and change of primary health care

experience preferred - orientation to the service and the role will be provided
