Commonwealth Bank of Australia

Verified Visa SponsorSydney, NSW, AUFull-timePosted 1 months ago

Job Description

See yourself in the team

Australia's largest bank is building a new eCommerce payments platform — and we're looking for product people who know payments inside out to help us get it right.

Connected Payments is our next-generation merchant payment acceptance platform, launching in 2026. It's a significant investment in how CommBank enables businesses to accept payments online — and we're looking to grow our product team with the depth and expertise to ensure it launches strong and evolves to be the best in market.

This role sits within the eCommerce crew in the Payment Acceptance domain, part of Everyday Business Banking (EBB) — a centre of excellence for innovation and capability within the Group.

The role

We're looking for a Product Manager who brings genuine depth in eCommerce payments — someone who understands the ecosystem, has opinions about where it's heading, and wants to shape a platform that serves thousands of Australian merchants.

This is a product strategy and ownership role . You'll define the roadmap, make trade-off decisions, and drive the evolution of a platform that processes real volume at real scale. Your world will span payment acceptance across multiple methods and channels, dynamic routing and transaction optimisation, platform resilience, fraud and security, merchant insights, and developer integration experience.

If you've ever wished you could influence how a major acquirer builds its eCommerce stack — this is that role.

Do work that matters

As a Product Manager on Connected Payments, you will

Own the product roadmap for your area of the platform, informed by merchant feedback, competitive intelligence, scheme roadmaps and commercial opportunity

Drive product strategy that differentiates Connected Payments in the Australian market

Apply continuous discovery practices — using customer insight, experimentation and evidence to validate product decisions and reduce risk

Champion the merchant experience — using customer journey mapping, user research and feedback loops to inform product priorities

Bring deep payments expertise to the crew — elevating our collective understanding from scheme economics to checkout psychology to settlement flows

Translate commercial opportunity into product decisions — linking feature investment to merchant activation, transaction growth and revenue

Navigate a complex regulated environment with confidence, partnering with senior product and risk stakeholders to ensure scheme obligations, PCI requirements and regulatory standards are met

Collaborate across cross-functional squads including Technology, Risk, Operations, Go-to-Market, Sales Enablement and Customer teams

Measure what matters — approval rates, checkout conversion, merchant NPS, activation and revenue — and use it to inform every product decision

We're interested in hearing from people who have

Deep eCommerce payments experience — you understand how online payments work end-to-end, from checkout through authorisation, clearing and settlement

Scheme and network fluency — Visa, Mastercard, eftpos , Amex — including interchange, tokenisation, 3DS and how they impact merchants

Gateway, acquirer, processor or payment orchestration platform experience — ideally from a product management perspective

Strong product management fundamentals — roadmap ownership, discovery, experimentation, prioritisation, commercial acumen and stakeholder management

Customer and user experience orientation — you use research, data and merchant feedback to drive decisions, not assumptions

Comfort leveraging AI and data tools to support product decisions and ways of working

Awareness of the competitive landscape — you stay across what global and local PSPs are doing, and you have a view on what matters

Experience in regulated environments (banking, payments, fintech) with governance and compliance fluency

Confidence navigating ambiguity and influencing across levels — with support from senior product leadership

Risk mindset

All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks. In this role, a strong risk mindset means you understand that in payments, getting it wrong has real consequences — for merchants, for customers and for the bank. You balance speed with safety and know how to innovate within the boundaries of a regulated environment.

If you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application. We’re keen to support you with the next step in your career.
