Project Engineer

\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nJob Description\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThis position requires a project management individual with superior communication skills and the ability to multi-task in order to complete medium to large sized projects simultaneously.\r\n\r\nAny MLF team member interested in being considered for this role are encouraged to apply online by October 15. Applications received beyond that date are not guaranteed consideration\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nSnapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\tDevelop and manage (Capital) project plans, operations, budgets and schedules (annual and multi-year) and prepares CER's (Capital Expenditure Requests)\r\n\tProvide engineering support for the operations group\r\n\tAssist senior management in developing and justifying capital expenditure requests\r\n\tInvestigate practical, cost-effective and innovative plant improvement solutions\r\n\tUtilize and incorporate Six Sigma and other project management tools, methodology and principles\r\n\tNegotiate contracts and supervise equipment vendors, service providers and contractors\r\n\tActively participate in company initiatives; e.g. Innovation, Share groups, MyMLF, Energy Efficiency\r\n\tManage and develop the capital plans of the Plant Manager, Production, Maintenance Managers, Engineering and all other functions to achieve low cost producer status.\r\n\tSupervise contractors when on site.\r\n\tCreate project budget based on agreed scope.\r\n\tForm and manage project schedules.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat You’ll Bring:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\tEngineering degree from an accredited university (preferable mechanical, electrical and/or civil)\r\n\tProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility to become a P.Eng.\r\n\tProject Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred but not required.\r\n\tExperience as a Project engineer, or equivalent project experience.\r\n\tProven track record of handling multiple projects and priorities\r\n\tWillingness to learn.\r\n\tTeam player with effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.\r\n\tStrong organizational, analytical and planning abilities combined with practical business sense.\r\n\tStrong computer skills (Microsoft Office and Project Management software).\r\n\tWorking knowledge of industry codes and regulations e.g. OH&S, WHMIS, HACCP.\r\n\tKnowledge and experience with Food industry would be an asset\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWhat We Offer at Maple Leaf Foods:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\tBeing part of a high-performance, people-focused company that has an inspiring and unique vision to become the most sustainable protein company on earth, and a deep commitment to sustainable protein across North America.\r\n\tAn inclusive company culture and a work environment that keeps our people safe, rewards excellence, and empowers everyone to learn and contribute their best.\r\n\tCompetitive Health and Wellness benefits that offer flexibility to meet your individual or family needs, including programs focused on improving mental health and wellbeing.
