Refrigeration Service and Maintenance Technician

About the role

Thermal Solutions is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Service and Maintenance Technician to join our team in Silverdale, Auckland. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality refrigeration services to our diverse client base. You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing commercial HVAC & refrigeration systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. This role is essential to our operations and directly contributes to customer satisfaction and business growth.

What you'll be doing

Performing routine maintenance and servicing on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure peak operational efficiency

Diagnosing and troubleshooting refrigeration equipment faults using appropriate testing equipment and tools

Repairing and replacing faulty components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators and control systems

Conducting gas leak detection and rectification work on refrigeration systems

Carrying out refrigerant handling and recovery in compliance with environmental regulations

Installing new refrigeration systems and equipment according to specifications and safety standards

Maintaining accurate service records and documentation for all work completed

Liaising with clients to understand their needs and provide technical advice on system optimisation

Adhering to all health and safety regulations and best practices on site

Supporting the team with emergency call-outs and responding to urgent service requests

What we're looking for

A recognised refrigeration and air conditioning qualification or equivalent industry certification

Minimum 2 years' experience working as a refrigeration technician in commercial or industrial settings

Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment relevant to refrigeration systems

Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics and electrical components

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Valid New Zealand driver's licence and willingness to travel to various sites across Auckland

A commitment to health and safety practices and compliance with industry regulations

Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer service
