Korero mo te turanga | About the role
We're looking for a Regional Contract Specialist to join our Strategic Contracts & Relationships team based from Hamilton and supporting our wider Waikato region (think Taumaranui, Tokoroa, Raglan and Hamilton).
This is a highly visible role where you'll work closely with delivery partners, service delivery teams and subject matter experts to ensure our contractual arrangements deliver value for both NZ Post and our customers. Based on the road and in the field as much as behind a desk, you'll develop strong relationships with a network of delivery partners ranging from courier and rural operators to transport providers.
Working alongside the Regional Contract & Relationship Manager, you'll help manage commercial performance, contractual obligations and operational outcomes across your region. You'll bring a balanced approach, combining commercial thinking with strong relationship management skills to navigate challenges, identify opportunities and support service excellence.
You'll do this by
Building and maintaining trusted relationships with delivery partners across the region
Leading contract reviews, variations, negotiations and commercial discussions
Providing advice and support on contractual matters and partner performance
Partnering with operational teams to support service improvements and optimise outcomes
Managing contract compliance, disputes and non-compliance investigations where required
Using commercial and operational insights to identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement
Mou | About you
You enjoy building relationships and working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. You're commercially minded, confident having robust conversations when needed, and can balance the needs of delivery partners, operational teams and the business to achieve positive outcomes. You'll be comfortable working autonomously while remaining connected to a wider team and organisational goals.
You'll bring experience working in contract management, vendor management, logistics, supply chain and operational environments where stakeholder engagement and commercial decision-making are critical. Most importantly, you'll thrive in a role where no two days are the same and where your ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate will make a real difference.
You'll combine that with
- Experience managing service providers, contractors or commercial partners
- Strong contract management and negotiation experience
- Proven ability to build credibility and influence diverse stakeholder groups
- Commercial acumen supported by strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Experience operating successfully in a fast-paced and complex environment
