Job Description

Calling all High School Science Teachers!

Come and join our Science Education Team for the 2027 school year.

We’re looking for a passionate engaging educator to support our programs on a part-time basis — 1 or 2 days per week, depending availability.

This role is ideal for someone who is returning to work, looking to supplement their current teaching load, or wanting a flexible position that still allows them to inspire the next generation of young Green School learners. This is a face to face teaching role, so the candidate will need to live locally.

Come teach Science somewhere extraordinary. Green School New Zealand is looking for an exceptional Science teacher with experience teaching Biology NCEA Level 2-3 to join our passionate, creative and genuinely supportive team. Forget overcrowded classrooms and spending your day managing behaviour — here you’ll work with small classes and engaged learners, giving you the freedom to focus on what great teaching is actually about: relationships, curiosity, challenge and inspiring young people to think. Set within a stunning natural environment, our school is innovative, values-driven and refreshingly different. If you’re a brilliant Science teacher who loves your subject, loves young people, and wants to be part of a very special educational community, Green School New Zealand might just be the best teaching move you ever make.

What you’ll be doing:

Delivering fun, hands-on science sessions to students

Creating an engaging learning environment

Supporting the development of scientific curiosity and confidence in learners

What we’re looking for:

Qualified and experienced Science teachers (high school)

Enthusiastic communicators with a passion for education

Reliable team players who enjoy working with young people

If you're excited about making science come alive for students — we’d love to hear from you!

What does happiness, sustainability, optimism, community, compassion, and a commitment to New Zealand, and the planet, have in common?

At Green School, we are educating tomorrow’s environmental leaders. We embrace high-quality learning, within a growth mindset, that fosters a connection between what we learn, and how we learn, with care and compassion. We endeavor to find joy everyday within our community and regeneration within our connection to the environment and the land. Our unique environmental campus, or village, in the rural area just outside New Plymouth, is a living, learning, green community, where we work hard, challenge our thinking, and ask compelling questions of ourselves and our learners, as we forge new pathways to higher education, industry, and entrepreneurial enterprises.
