Senior Analyst

ABOUT YOU:

You are an experienced laboratory professional with a strong technical background gained within a hydrocarbon, petroleum, oilfield, fuels, environmental or similarly regulated analytical laboratory environment. You have hands-on experience performing analytical testing and interpreting results while working to strict quality standards.

You enjoy solving technical challenges, sharing knowledge with colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement activities. Organised, adaptable and detail-oriented, you thrive in a fast-paced laboratory setting where quality, safety and customer service remain the highest priorities.

Required skills and experience:

Science-based qualification (e.g. Chemistry or related discipline) and/or significant relevant industry experience.

Experience working within a hydrocarbon, petroleum, oilfield, fuels or related analytical laboratory environment.

Demonstrable experience working within a UKAS-accredited laboratory and applying quality standards and good laboratory practices.

Experience operating analytical instrumentation and laboratory techniques, such as ICP-OES, potentiometric titration, XRF, microscopy, physical property testing or similar analytical methods.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data accurately.

Effective communication skills with the ability to support and mentor colleagues within a team environment.

Ability to work accurately under pressure while maintaining quality and meeting client deadlines.

Proficient in MS Office and laboratory information management systems.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established laboratory team supporting clients across the energy sector. As a Senior Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of analytical techniques and instrumentation while taking on greater responsibility for technical support, mentoring colleagues and driving continuous improvement activities. You'll play an important role in ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant analytical results while contributing to the ongoing development of laboratory capabilities. Key activities:

Support Team Lead with the coordination and prioritisation of daily laboratory workload activities

Monitor turnaround times and support the team in meeting agreed client deadlines and service expectations.

Perform routine and complex laboratory testing and analysis in accordance with approved methods, standard operating procedures, and Intertek Total Quality Assurance standards.

Provide technical guidance, training and mentoring to laboratory personnel.

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting technical issues and escalating faults as required.

Prepare, review and report technical results, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with approved methods and quality requirements.

Comply at all times with corporate and local quality systems and accreditation standards, including ISO 17025 where applicable.

Review QHSE documentation periodically to ensure COSHH assessments, risk assessments, document Reviews and non-conformances are updated/ closed out in a timely manner.

Report hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, incidents, or accidents in line with Intertek procedures and demonstrate stopwork authority where required.

Support continuous improvement initiatives, method development, validation, verification and implementation.

Work collaboratively with both laboratory and operational teams to ensure turnaround times, quality targets, and customer expectations are met.

Act as a role model, to assist Team Lead drive high performance and ensure quality and customer expectations are consistently met.
