Serving hundreds of millions of personal and corporate customers globally, CCB boasts a profound international footprint across multiple countries and regions. Our diverse ecosystem extends beyond traditional banking into investment banking, fund management, financial leasing, and wealth management.

About CCB New Zealand

Established in 2014, CCB operates a robust dual-entity structure in the local market through a wholly-owned subsidiary (CCB NZ Limited)—governed by a dedicated local board—and a local branch (CCB NZ Branch).

We are dedicated to bridging the New Zealand and Chinese markets, empowering enterprises with integrated, top-tier financial solutions. Operating across both wholesale and retail banking, our comprehensive suite of services encompasses corporate and commercial lending, Infrastructure & Specialised Finance, trade finance and foreign exchange (FX), sophisticated treasury facilities, and seamless cross-border transaction services.

Purpose of Role

As part of the Infrastructure & Specialised Finance (ISF) team, the Senior Associate is a transaction-focused role supporting the execution, administration and ongoing management of infrastructure and specialised finance transactions. Working with Directors, Associate Directors and other senior team members, the role supports the full financing lifecycle from client onboarding and credit processes through financial close, drawdown and post-lending management, while also contributing to sector research and market analysis.

Key Responsibilities

1. KYC, AML & Client Onboarding

Coordinate KYC, AML/CFT and customer due diligence for new and existing clients in line with Bank policies and New Zealand regulatory requirements.

Support onboarding and account opening.

2. Post-Lending & Portfolio Management

Support monitoring of the portfolio, including reporting, compliance certificates, consents, covenants and other information requirements.

Assist with annual credit and rating reviews, waivers, and amendments.

3. Credit Support & Internal Credit Processes

Support Directors and Associate Directors in the day-to-day execution of infrastructure project finance and other specialised finance transactions.

Gather and prepare financial, transaction and project information, including basic analysis and due diligence.

4. Financial Model & Financial Analysis Support

Review financial information and transaction models and summarise key outputs.

Support basic analysis and compare model outputs against transaction parameters under guidance.

5. Financial Close, Drawdown & Loan Administration

Support transaction closing and funding.

Maintain accurate system records and support ongoing loan administration.

6. Infrastructure Sector Research & Team Support

Research infrastructure-related sectors, and monitor New Zealand market, policy, regulatory and pipeline developments.

Assist with sector updates, briefing materials and internal presentations, and contribute to team initiatives, business planning, management reporting and other infrastructure-related tasks.

Key Skills & Competencies

Business savvy, genuine interest in New Zealand infrastructure and specialised finance, strong self-learning and problem-solving skills, and a practical approach to developing solutions.

Strong ownership, accountability and teamwork, with willingness to help and learn from team members.

Strong spoken and written English and ability to communicate independently with different stakeholders.

Understanding of, or willingness to develop, banking credit processes, KYC/AML, customer onboarding and loan administration; good financial literacy and ability to understand financial statements, forecasts and banking metrics.

General understanding of corporate lending, infrastructure finance, project finance or specialised finance, and ability to interpret key financial-model outputs. Advanced modelling capability is not required. Strong attention to detail, organisation and ability to manage multiple workstreams are essential.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Law, Engineering or another relevant discipline.

At least five years’ relevant experience in banking, corporate finance, lending, credit, transaction support, financial services or a related field. New Zealand or international banking experience is advantageous.

Exposure to credit processes, onboarding, KYC/AML, loan administration, transaction execution or portfolio management is beneficial. Familiarity with financial statements/models and exposure to infrastructure, renewable energy, utilities, transport or other specialised-finance sectors is advantageous.
