Senior Business Analyst
Job Description
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Client office at a minimum 1 days per week - subject to change at any time.
The Sr. Consultant Business Analyst leverages deep regulatory expertise (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II) and hands-on experience in trade reporting to drive technology and business solutions within capital markets. With 2–3 years of experience, the role is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements related to regulatory transaction reporting, ensuring solutions are compliant with industry standards and internal controls. The Analyst leads testing, training, and implementation activities, and provides ongoing support and guidance to end users, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to regulatory obligations. The role also applies technical skills in SQL, Dynatrace, and ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) to support data analysis, monitoring, and troubleshooting of reporting systems.
**Your future duties and responsibilities**
Understanding and documenting requirements - Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit and document requirements for regulatory reporting, including transaction data capture, trade lifecycle events, and exception management. Facilitate workshops to clarify reporting obligations under Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II, and translate mandates into actionable system requirements.
Solution Design & Documentation
Develop and validate solution design documents covering scope, functional and non-functional requirements, and data mapping (e.g., UTI, LEI, Counterparty, Trade Attributes). Ensure solutions support accurate and timely submission of trade reports to Approved Reporting Mechanisms (ARMs) and Trade Repositories (TRs), and are aligned with regulatory change management processes.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Lead end-to-end testing activities, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for trade reporting workflows, validation of regulatory data fields, and reconciliation of reported transactions. Support defect management and remediation to ensure compliance with reporting standards and minimize regulatory risk.
Implementation & End User Support
Oversee training and onboarding for business users and operations teams on regulatory reporting systems and processes. Provide post-implementation support, addressing issues such as rejected trades, data corrections, and regulatory inquiries.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance Monitoring
Proactively identify process enhancements to optimize reporting accuracy, streamline exception handling, and improve auditability. Monitor regulatory developments and participate in impact assessments for new or amended reporting requirements.
**Required qualifications to be successful in this role**
. 2–3 years of experience in business analysis with a focus on regulatory compliance and trade reporting within financial services or capital markets.
. Working knowledge of key regulatory regimes (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II) and trade reporting processes.
. Technical proficiency in SQL for data analysis and reconciliation.
. Experience with Dynatrace for application monitoring and ELK stack for log analysis and troubleshooting.
. Familiarity with reporting platforms, ARMs/TRs, and data reconciliation tools.
. Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills; ability to translate regulatory requirements into business and technical solutions.
. Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise judgment in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
- CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000–$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
