Senior Chef de Partie
Job Description
Senior Chef de Partie
The Camp | Lake Hāwea, Otago
Great food. Plenty of variety. Adventure on your doorstep.
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Chef de Partie to join us at The Camp, Lake Hāwea.
From the buzz of a food truck like no other to bread baking, fermentation and butchery, this role offers plenty of variety. You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to fine dining and memorable events, working under an award-winning chef in a spectacular part of New Zealand.
If you enjoy busy services, take pride in your craft and want room to learn and create, we’d love to hear from you.
About the role
You’ll take ownership of your section and help deliver consistently excellent food across food truck services, kitchen preparation and event catering. Working closely with the chef and wider team, you’ll balance efficient service with careful preparation, quality ingredients and attention to detail.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing your section through preparation, service and clean-down.
Preparing and cooking dishes consistently to agreed recipes, presentation and quality standards.
Contributing to bread baking, fermentation, butchery and preparation.
Supporting fine dining services, group catering and events as required.
Contributing ideas to menu development and seasonal specials.
Supporting and guiding junior chefs, helping build their skills and confidence.
Maintaining food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
Monitoring stock, rotating ingredients and keeping waste to a minimum.
Communicating clearly with the kitchen and service teams to keep services running smoothly.
About you
You’re an experienced chef who brings sound cooking skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to get stuck in. You work calmly under pressure and care about both the food you serve and the team around you.
We’re looking for:
Experience as a Chef de Partie or in a comparable role, with confidence running a section independently.
The ability to deliver consistent quality during busy services.
Strong organisation, preparation and time-management skills.
A sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen management.
An interest in baking, fermentation and butchery, with a willingness to develop these skills.
A collaborative approach and the confidence to support junior team members.
Reliability and flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
